More on the Zettgeist audio blog in the German section below. Let’s start with some zeitgeisty comic news from IDW!
Product news:
I already mentioned Starscream in the last update but now its two Best-of collections from The Transformers that are slated for the next couple months (from IDW Pubishing). You can find the covers to the Starscream and Grimlock books on my deviant art site! Here’s a link to the Starscream book with logo and all. Taking about stuff I already mentioned in my last update, there’s this fantasy cover I did for the fine folks at Stein-Medien and their line of Göttingen-themed stories. New on the shelves at SPIEL fair in Essen (Germany) will we two great products from the Mephisto team. First, Mephisto-Edition publishes its first stand alone product. “Engel: Himmel über Aachen” is a 96-page campain book with almost 50 lavish illustrations by some of Germany’s best artists (Engel Preview!). Traditionally the interiors are black and white but the cover is in color. The best: it’s a hardcover(!). Get more info (and order it) via the Mephisto shop! And the second? Mephisto #50 will be out at the Essen SPIEL fair this week and soon hitting retail as well. Not only is this issue shock full of sci-fi and fantasy game news, reviews and playing material but the issue also contains a 16-page full color booklet adventure for Shadowrun (4th Edition) named “Schulschluss” (click to see the cover and a preview!) Again, this booklet is full color and is boasting almost a dozen fantastic color illustrations that will suck you right into the story. You will also find it to be fully compatible with the brand new “Berlin” sourcebook from Pegasus Spiele Verlag for which I provided a hand full of pictures.
In the works:
Things and stuff. More concrete: comics. One is a story for an upcoming issue of the German horror anthology comic series Horrorschocker, written by Levin Kurio. Aaand there is other stuff I can’t talk about yet. At Bielefeld University my “Killing Shakespeare” seminar will start soon – all about Shakespeare adaptions and interpretations like IDW’s Kill Shakespeare! Indeed I’ll also give more workshops at Volkshochschule Bielefeld early next year! More on that in the Germany/Deutschland news below. For Battletech I just finished 7 portrait illustrations and a fullpager for Era report 3052. Next, probably more Shadowrun and a dash of Fantasy if all goes as planned…
Events:
Recently been to Monde du Jeu in Paris with the fine people from Black Book Editions, the makers of Shadowrun in France. A really neat convention with lots of fan contact and making new friends. They even reprinted my first Shadowrun cover on a translation of Shadows of Europe (“L’Europe des Ombres”) as a hardcover book! That (and Paris as a city) blew me away. Merci beaucoup again to all my friends in France for making this a great experience. Hope I’ll manage to come back next year! After a short brush with Frankfurt book fair recently I’m now preparing for Essen SPIEL fair. I’ll be signing and holding portfolio reviews for aspiring artists at the Mephisto booth (Hall 6, booth 6-507). Whenever I am not there I’ll be at Pegasus Spiele sketching into books and showcasing my art prints at booth 6-417. Drop by and say hi! (Hint: You can get my exact schedule from the Pegasus convention pamphlet available at the booth!)
Deutschland News:
