Having gone through the purgatory of getting a new computer, monitor and graphic tablet (Wacom Intuos 4L, indeed) I’ve been incapacitated for a couple of weeks. Luckily I was busy as hell giving seminars at the Volkshochschule and Universtiy Bielefeld, and getting the art together for the upcoming issue 49 of Mephisto magazine. Instead of diving right into work I leave for Germany’s biggest comic convention in Franken which brings us to our big news item today:

Events: Attending the Erlangen Comic Salon from tomorrow (May 3rd) till sunday (May 6th) you can find me at Levin Kurio’s Weissblechcomics booth (#30), signing books and selling prints. Also, I will have a small stack of signed G.I. Joe Origins (## 11 and 15) with me for sale. Maybe even some original art. Don’t miss it!

Product News: Quick bonus info! Heavy Metal magazine’s Spring issue features Boris Koch’s maritime horror story “Seaman’s Yarn” (“Seemansgarn”), illustrated by your’s truly. This one had been published before in Hammerharte Horrorschocker # 9 in German language. Check out an English language preview here!

See below. If you haven’t been on this page in a couple months check out the “older posts” link on the bottom of this page.

Product news:
New on the shelves as of today is IDW publishing’s G.I. Joe Origins #15 featuring everybody’s favourite arctic ranger Snow Job! Spoiler alert – it’s awesome! You can find a 6-page preview here (fourth from the top) and a a first review by News-a-Rama here (second from top). Short message for the reviewer: Thanks for all the kind words regarding artwork and colors! The color flats where done by my friend and collegue Gunther Klippel, final color and rendering was again executed by me – that might explain why the colors go so well with the linework…;-). Also, great praise for Merrill Hagan, who penned the issue! Let’s do more books together, my friends! Tip: Also buy Tom Feisters variant cover for that issue, check it out on http://www.tomfeister.com! EDIT: The book is now also available on PSP, check it out here!!

Went to the US in late March. My dear cousin Steffi got married to her fiancee P.J (hi guys!!) and I had a great time in Portland (OR) I must say. Just got back to Germany a day before they lifted the flight ban on German air traffic, so I travelled home from Amsterdam via train, which was actually quite an enjoyable, short trip. Oh, I don’t know if I mentioned, but I got an Ipad!! Yes, I finally bought my first Apple product. I needed a portable internet device and netbooks are soo 2009… ;-) Okay, let’s quit joking around and get down to business!

Product news:
Available in Germany only is our spectular Mephisto magazine, issue 48 featuring everything about “Die Zwerge” by author Markus Heitz and also some new illos for the Degenesis RPG, and now you can check it all out by going HERE. Also in Germany: We have our first own free comic book day – GRATIS COMIC TAG. And Weissblechcomics releases a nice little book featuring a 4 page story I drew for author Levin Kurio in Horrorschocker #19. Get it for free in good German comic stores on May 8th. By the way, issue #21 (available in the online shop) features another Charon pinup by yours truly.

In the works:
Two covers for the Best-Of series of Transformers books, not saying who will be on those but both are well known characters, one Autobot one Decepticon, whoot! Also on my desk, a new cover for the widely known Batttletech miniatures game, so it’s big robots all the way for me in the coming weeks. Except for the semiars I am giving at the VHS institute and Bielefeld universtity in the coming weeks. Another side project is trying to translate and convert some of my comics work into Ipad and PSP material. Some of my IDW books are already available in the aforementioned formats. Anybody interested in more?

Events:
Wondercon and C2E2 where great! Check out this news bit from the able folks at Comic Book Resources.com about the G.I. Joe Panel which I attended at C2E2 in Chicago, including photo! Want more? Go to TheTerrordrome.com and read this transcription of an interview taken at Wondercon in San Francisco, also comes with a photo where you see me scribbling on an Ipad on April 4th.
Next event I will attend will be the Comicsalon in Erlangen on June 3rd. Also planned for summer are San Diego comic con and Gencon Indianapolis but that is not set in stone yet.

Deutschland News:
