Product news: Mephisto #52 is still on the rack in Germany while the new issue is in the works. Catalyst just released Jihad Hot Spots: Final Reckoning and you can find a typography-free version of that cover HERE. Not enough Battletech? Check out my Deviant Art page to see this illustration I did for the small Battletech convention you just missed in Switzerland (yes, I think it came out really good even if the theme is a bit…kitschy). Other works I finished up in the past are not released or even announced yet, so I can’t talk about them here. If you don’t have my Ungeheuer! book  yet, the Weissblech-shop was just updated, peep in by clicking HERE. If you want to read one of the stories in a smaller package, look out for the October issue of COMIX in Germany. It features a story drawn by me and written by the awesome Boris “Drachenflüsterer” Koch (www.boriskoch.de).

In the works:
Race designs for an upcoming book for PAIZO which marks my first work for the awesome Pathfinder universe. Mephisto #53 is probably not making it for SPIEL fair in Essen but look out for the magazine on the stands in Germany in late October. It will come with a free 16 page Cthulhu-adventure and tons of illustrations and articles for your favorite pen and paper RPGs! Already finished but coming out later this year is some work for Horrorschocker #27 which will feature a Charon-pinup by yours truly and a cover that is drawn by me and digitally painted by artist Luisa Preißler who drew and painted the “Hexenrichter” story for her top scoring bachelor thesis which included a 12 page comic story. Events:
Just left the lovely Sparrencon behind me (see picture) it is now time for Frankfurt book fair again this week. Catch me at the COMIX-booth in the comic section on Friday. Mephisto won’t have a booth at Essen Spiel fair but you can find me either hanging around Mantic Games’s booth with the crew from Tabletop Insider, signing at the Freibeuter stand Hall 8, stand 8-34 (COMIX October issue) or at Pegasus Spiele Verlag in hall 6 ( booth 6-417) signing the new Rhein-Ruhr Shadowrun book for which I did more than half a dozen illustrations. Look at the respective booths for exact signing times. As usual I’ll be doing portfolio reviews for up and coming artists for Mephisto Magazine.

Deutschland news:
2011 ist eindeutig mein Arbeitsreichstes Jahr wenn es um’s Unterrichten geht. Aufgrund der guten Resonanz an der HS-OWL gebe ich im Fachbereich Medienproduktion ein (Block-) Seminar zu „Grundlagen der Gestaltung“ – Studierende sollten die Augen dafür aufhalten, denn der zuständige Prof am Standort Lemgo erwartet alsbald die Freigabe für den Lehrauftrag. Am b.i.b. International College gestalte ich ein Semester im Modul Game Design an den Standorten Bielefeld und Paderborn.  In kleinerem Rahmen hat mich das Ratsgymnasium Minden eingeladen Schüler mit einem Wochenendseminar (vorrausichtlich Mitte November) zu, äh, „beglücken“ – fragt Euren Kunstlehrer, denn die Plätze sind begrenzt. Die Projektwoche im Juli hat mir jedenfalls viel Spaß gemacht. Für alle die nicht an den besagten Institutionen eingeschrieben sind, empfiehlt sich die VHS in Bielefeld. Da gibt es wieder einen neuen Wochenendworkshop am 29. und 30 Oktober. Diesmal mehr was für “Fortgeschrittene”. Anmeldung ab sofort bei der VHS Bielefeld. Weissblech just published Ungeheuer! – my very own omnibus style collection of works I did with authors Levin Kurio, Josef Rother and Boris Koch. Also Mephisto #51 is available now and it comes with a big dragon poster by yours truly and a really nice fold out pin up by the talented Simon Eckert!

In the works: Workshops, private commissions (yes, I do stuff  like that every once in a while), Battletech (Battlecorps) illustrations, advertisement illustrations, tabletop figure designs and indeed Mephisto #52 art direction. Free time, what’s that?

Events:
Had attended the Roleplay Con in Köln (see Sir Dooms’s report with photos!) and was filmed by the new crew of www.dreist.tv! Check out their coverage of the event on youtube and vimeo in minutes 1-4 and an interview with me beginning at minute 15. A real pity that I had to re-arrange my first seminar at the HS-OWL in Lemgo due to stomach flu but it’s going to happen later in June. Next event is GENCON Indi (USA) where you can find me signing at the Catalyst Game Labs booth. Updates as soon as they become available.
Last weekend saw a mini comic sales event in Hamburg with Weissblech mastermind Levin Kurio (check out the uhm, crappy photo) from which I went directly to Nordcon Hamburg – a wonderful roleplaying convention with a lot to offer. I signed at the Mephisto booth and gave a workshop, saw furries and weird(er) stuff, it was great. Sorry for not letting you know, it was a last minute thing.

WETTBEWERBE!! Wer gern X-men Charaktere zeichnet kann jetzt ganz groß absahen beim Cinestar Kino in Düsseldorf und Bielefeld. Düsseldorf spendiert allein schon bloßen Teilnehmern allein ein Ticket für X-Men Erste Entscheidung aber die Deadline ist schon in drei tagen (siehe Update-datum), nämlich Freitag 10. Juni 2011, also Beeilung! In Bielefeld gibt es Kinotickets und mehr zu gewinnen, die Deadline ist aber etwas länger. Alle Infos, auch darüber wo ihr Eure Zeichnungen hinschicken könnt, findet ihr auf den jeweiligen Websites von Cinestar Düsseldorf Oberkassel (siehe auch Facebook) und Cinestar Bielefeld. Eine tolle Aktion und ich bin gespannt was dort eingereicht wird. Achtung, Disclaimer: ich stelle zwar die Jury (oder einen Teil davon), bin aber NICHT der Veranstalter. VHS News: Wenn alles klappt gebe ich nochmal einen öffentlichen Workshop und zwar am 29/30 Oktober 2011 – dieser wird aber kein Anfängerworkshop wo ich ganz viel Vortrag halte, sondern eine große Zeichensession über zwei Tage, wo jeder in seinem eigenen Stil und Medium (Bleistift? Laptop und Wacomtablett?) arbeiten kann und ich individuell Feedback gebe und unterstütze. Anmeldungsbeginn werde ich hier bekannt geben. Noch ist es nicht soweit aber notiert Euch doch schon mal den Termin wenn ihr mögt. Und jetzt ran an die Stifte und ab mit den X-men Skizzen an die jeweiligen Kinos! Viel Erfolg!
