Sorry for the long break in updates. I wasn’t as lazy in the meantime as it might seem. Let’s dive right in!
Product news:
New on the shelves is Markus Heitz’s new book “Drachenkaiser” for which I provided the cover showing two Dragons fighting over Earth’s globe. Check out the cover on Amazon by following this link. This is not the last cooperation with Mr Heitz. See below for more on that. In other news, Shadowrun has finally realeased its 20th anniversary edition at Gencon and it looks great. Same for the stunning 25year commemorative art book for Classic Battletech with some of my covers in there. One day I gotta work for this new game Catalyst Game Labs is publishing called Eclipse Phase. I recommend a look!
It’s still upcoming at this point but maybe it’s a good idea to start thinking about getting it – I’m talking about the trade paper back to the excellent Groom Lake by IDW’s dream team of Chris Ryall and Ben Templesmith. I was finally able to dabble in Templesmith’s scratchy stylings (Hey Ben!;-D) and produce a little hommage pinup to the main characters of the book. Check it out here in Mr. Ryalls blog and no, you still have to buy this book!! Thanks, guys!
In the works:
As mentioned above I’ve started another endeavour in the house that Markus Heitz build: I’m illustrating the new collectors’ edition of his book “Die Zwerge” that has also been realeased in English as “The Dwarves”, check it out. Just finished the illustrated editon’s cover and it’s great fun, gotta love drawing those little power packs. They have been my favourite fantasy race since Shadowrun!
After this job is done I’ll go back to the Real American Heroes of G.I. Joe and draw the spotlight issue for the character Snowjob, your favourite arctic ranger! Already read the script and it’s really….wait for it….cool! ;-) G.I. JOE: Origins Beachhead I can report as finished, really looking forward to seeing it coming out as #12 of the series early in 2010.
Weissblech Comics big boss Levin Kurio has done it again – he convinced me to draw his story “Xydoon spricht…” (German: Xydoon speaks…”) for his brand new magazine “Welten des Schreckens” which will come out in Germany in October! Previews and production notes right here on my DeviantArt website and you can soon order it from Levin’s shop on www.weissblechcomics.com, don’t miss it if you can read German!
Oh, and indeed Germany’s no. 1 Roleplaying magazine Mephisto will be in stores early October. Apart from my art direction duties I also illustrated another 5 page article for the übercool Degenesis RPG, written by Christian Günther. Lastly, there’s a Cover illustration I’m painting in my “free time” showing a red Dragon spitting fire. This might pop up somewhere in the future…so, lot’s of fantasy art from me these days.
Events:
For those who missed me (or not) in the US, here’s a few snapshots capturing the atmosphere at One Stop Comics in Chicago, where I had my first instore comic book signing on US soil. It was great fun! Thanks a ton to Rick Manzella and Seth Larson for organizing the gig!!
Really sorry I could not make it to the RATCON event in Dortmund, I fell sick and could not announce my absence in time. Trying to make it up to the community be attending this year’s Sparrencon here in Bielefeld next Saturday Sept. 26. www.sparrencon.de , a nice little event. Keep your eyes open for updates here or on my Deviant Art blog for schedules regarding me attending Frankfurt Book fair (on convention Friday the 9th in October) and SPIEL Fair in Essen (all four days from Oct. 15.-18.) With all likelyhood I will update my DA account on site from my Blackberry.
