I’m back with lots of news, mostly regarding my work on G.I. JOE. Though I could not make it to San Diego Comic Con this year I was featured in the IDW G.I. Joe Panel hosted Friday at noon PST. Get the first visuals here. As you can see I’m not only doing art duty on the Origins-issue of BEACHHEAD but also on next year’s SNOW JOB. Trying to keep it short. Shadowrun is presenting it’s 20th Annyversary issue, for which I provided two color halfpagers – one showing off all 5 races of Shadowrun in one halfpage illustration.Gonna see if I can get a pic of that for you with the next update, or show the pencils on my new deviantART site, shamlessly plugged above. Catalyst Game Labs art director Brent Evans twisted my arm to produce more than a dozen portraits for the spectacular Masters and Minions: The Starcorps Dossiers – an excerpt of what he squeezed from me is in the preview for this great new Battletech book here, in PDF form. (Ok, I should mention that Brent is a super nice guy, and this artist was not harmed during the making of these illustrations) Did I bring up there are nine quick color halfpagers upcoming in the new Battltech RPG core book A Time of War, as well? Yes, Brent is that good. Warlors: Saga of the Storm’s newest edition will feature an Anti-Paladin Warlord card done by me, yes, I’ll bring a couple signed prints to Gencon. For the comic fans we have the July issue of Heavy Metal magazine, featuring “The Slayer of Oakwook Manor”, my first comic story with Boris Koch who’s putting out one stellar fantasy novel after the next at Heyne/Randomhouse here in Germany; more English language stories from us are in the pipeline! Also new in Germany, Mephisto # 45 with a Degenesis article from me and my first new Das Schwarze Auge illustrations in years! See www.mephisto.name

In a nutshell: Next con I will attend is Wizardworld Chicago, followed by Gencon in Indianapolis. Next Con in Germany will be Ratcon in Dortmund late in August.

Das VIRUS Magazin feiert seine 30ste Ausgabe und bringt dabei einen 4-Seiter von Levin Kurio (Script) und mir. Dazu ein „düsteres“ Interview mit mir, unter anderem zu der Story „Abfall“ die es die Tage in Horrorschocker # 19 gab. In Kürze in Horrorschocker #20, ein Frontispiece (Innencover), dass zur Feier der runden Nummer nicht nur Charon zeigt, sondern auch noch Scylla und Charibdis. Was es mit den beiden mythischen Gestalten auf sich hat erfährt man auf www.weissblechcomics.com, da könnt ihr die #20 auch gleich bestellen! Abgesehen vor vielleicht Kurios bester und atmosphärischster Comicstory bisher bietet auch das cover dieser Ausgabe eine Besonderheit, es ist eine Co-Produktion. Skizze: Levin Kurio, Reinzeichnung: ich und Farbe/Digi-Painting: Flavio Bolla; letzterer hat grade seine Website auf den neuesten Stand gemacht – in jedem Fall einen Blick wert, nicht zuletzt auch weil er für die Mephisto grad mal wieder den digitalten Pinsel schwenkt! Weiter so! Wer schnell zugreift kann jetzt von Comic Cards in bestimmten Lokalitäten in ganz Deutschalnd zwei gratis Postkarten von mir abgreifen – einmal mit dem Motiv von Horrorschocker #13 und einmal mit dem Mangagirly aus der Gallerie und dem Spruch “You have a disarming smile”. :-) Letztlich noch mal ein großes DANKE an alle Studenten meines Uni-Seminars Graphic Storytelling (You rock!) und der zahlreichen talentierten und motivierten Teilnehmer meiner sehr prall gefüllten VHS-Zeichnkurse.
