Just returned from Role Play Con in Köln. Been a smooth weekend with meeting lot’s of friends, clients and game fans indeed. Also held two art workshops with about 40 people in attendence each, to all thanks for listening my usual hectic self!
As you’ll doubtlessly notice this blog entry is a bit shorter than usual. This comes from me being able to update the site more often from now on – all praise going to my webmaster Tim Krämer who enabled me to change entries myself and introduced me to the blog system. Product news:
Finally able to upload a new pic into my gallery soon (as soon as that bit is worked out by my trusty webmaster Tim), but you can see it as a single file here: Jihad Hot Spots 3076, sans text and without parts cut off in layout. Look out for IDW’s new Terminator Salvation Movie Prequel comic issue #3, the retailer incentive cover is again done by yours truly.
In the works:
As has been revealed here on CBR after New York comic con I can finally say it, too. I’ll be the artist on G.I. JOE Spotlight: Beachhead, I’ve got the script and finally get down to working on this baby. Release can’t be revealed yet as I just started on the sketches but rest assured it will be this year still ;-) Again I’m working parallely on some Classic Battletech color illustrations, more on that when contracts allow me to talk about it. In other news: my seminar at Bielefeld University will start next week and I’m already exited. Find a (very kind) press statement from the English department if you follow the link.
Events:
There’s little solid in my calendar apart from Bielefeld’s NACHTANSICHTEN (see below in the Germany section). Other than that I’ve pencilled in Nordcon in Hamburg (Germany) and San Diego comic con (USA). Both remain iffy due to heavy workload in in the future (those comic pages don’t draw themselves y’know?). GENCON INDI (including a trip to Chicago) is set capital letters in my schedule, though.
Deutschland News:
Erstmal ein herzliches Dankeschön an alle die am Zeichenworkshop Anfang März teilgenommen haben. Wir hatten wieder eine coole Kursatmosphäre und ich freue mich dass alle so toll mitgemacht haben. Einige haben sich auch noch für den VHS II Workshop angemeldet, so dass dieser [EDIT 07.04.2009] schon voll ist. JA! Der Termin im Mai ist komplett belegt. In weiser Vorraussicht dessen habe ich mich zusammen mit der VHS entschlossen noch einen Termin nachzulegen. Diesmal aber ein 1-tages Seminar am SO 14. Juni. So dass man nicht übernachten braucht im schönen *hust* Bielefeld und auch durch die geringere Kursgebühr Geld spart. Dabei setze ich allerdings den Fokus etwas enger als in den anderen Kursen, nämlich auf Einzelfigurenillustration und -design. Schließlich startet auch der komplexeste Comic mit einem guten Charakterdesign, und genau da setzen wir an. Mehr Infos und Anmeldung direkt auf der VHS-Seite.
