Preis der Unsterblichkeit

23.01.2009«

Happy new year everyone! Obviously I’ve been too busy updating this website for more than half a year but now I’m back with a couple great news. I’ll try to keep it short but I doubt it’s going to work. Let’s find out. ;-)

Product news: New since December 2008 is the Chaos Space Marine novel Dark Disciple from Black Library,England. In the Shadowrun game line you’ll surely have seen the Unwired Cover available from Catalyst game labs. I did a couple of variant covers for IDWs TERMINATOR SALVATION comic series, #1 bears this grim image as a retailer incentive cover. In Germany we have Schattenlehrling “Das Bronzetor” and, just new on the shelves, “Cash” bearing my illustrations on the cover, all from Heyne/Randomhouse. Also available in Germany soon, Scratch publishings second novel from Michael Thiel: “Preis der Unsterblichkeit”! Check out the cover in my artwork section here. Last but not least I did a couple of illustrations for a new DEGENESIS product – a new adventure book named “Nichtfraktal”.

In the works: My first work finished in 2009 was a new Battltech cover Jihad Hotspots 3076 which will be available soon as PDF and printed book. Also you’ll find a dozen alien creatures illustrations by me in Catalyst Game Lab’s upcoming “Handbook: Major Periphery States.” On the side I’m working on a couple cool advertisement jobs which aren’t that thrilling to the fan of fantasy illustration, though, so I skip that topic. There are some exiting new projects in sight for 2009 on the comic front which might or might not work out so the only one solid enough to mention would be new work for IDW but more concrete info on that in the next update, hopefully – one thing I can say, it will be cool and yeah, weapons are going to feature prominently in those 22 pages. Likewise, don’t miss out on IDW’s new Terminator comics. TERMINATOR SALVATION five page preview here – my cover is the one with billboad add in the background. More to come! I wasn’t lazy over Christmas so I finally sent English language versions of two short stories to Heavy Metal magazine. The two comic shorts by German scribe Boris Koch where previously published in the German Horrorschocker magazine and will soon be in printed in English thanks to a lot of help from friends Maurice Kent, Samir Glaidos and Gunther Klippel, thanks guys! The first one “The Slayer of Oakwood Manor” will be in the May issue on sale from March 24th! All the while I’m about to finish up a little four pager, written by Weissblech Comics head honcho Levin Kurio himself to be featured in Horrorschoker #19 coming out in the first quarter of this new year, in Germany indeed.

Events: Next con I will attend is Leipzig Bookfair, however I won’t be there for a publisher, but merely as a guest. Thus my next big event is the Roleplay Con in Köln RPC, where you ‘ll be able to purchase T-shirts with illustrations by your’s truly by the fine folks from Werk-Zeugs (including the Mangagirl and a variety of Charon-illustrations from Horrrorschocker). I also might hold a little seminar about character design and illustration, so keep your eyes open. Finally one could count in the various illustration and comic art courses I offer via the VHS Germany (public lerning institutes) and the seminar at Bielefeld University but more on that in the German section below and in the workshop section.
