Updates/Product news:
After quite some time without updates I’m back with a flurry of news. First of all I may proudly present the cover to THE TRANSFORMERS: INFILTRATION #6 that will be on sale in June this year; my first cover work for a US comic publication can be found HERE. There will also be a desktop wallpaper available at IDW, see www.idwpublishing.com. Speaking of comics, I recently did a quick and atmospheric horror short story for HORRORSCHOCKER #9, Germany’s only horror anthology magazine, look for it in late April or order it directly from the publisher’s store HERE. HORRORSCHOCKER #10 will feature a cover by yours truly, check it out at www.weissblechcomics.com. Moreover I’ll draw a soccer-themed horror story by frequent collaborator Boris Koch www.boriskoch.de for that same issue; it’s due in June, just in time for this year’s Erlangen Comic Salon in Germany. Fresh on the shelves, internationally, you can find White Wolf’s BLOODLINES: THE LEGENDARY, a really nice looking book.
Events:
Next events I’ll attend will be the Hannover Spielt 13 Con on April 1st and/or 2nd, then I’ll give two illustration seminars in Bielefeld and Minden (see below under Germany news) and later attend the international Comic Salon in Erlangen, Germany’s most reknown comic event. After that I will be off to the USA where I will attend San Diego Comic Con and Gencon in Indianapolis.
In the works:
Several projects clutter my to-do list in the moment. For Battletech’s relaunch core book TOTAL WARFARE I am producing 12 (yes, that’s one dozen!) color halfpage illustrations featuring the coolest the BT-universe has to offer. Moreover, I’m scheduled for two more BT covers this year, so there’s no shortage of neat sci-fi illustration work. Talking Shadowrun, I’m happy to say that I have a few really nice illos cropping up in ON THE RUN and other new SR4 publications.
With DEGENESIS making the jump over the pond courtesy of FanPro LLC we’re working on producing more German source material: „Feldberichte Psychonauten“ will feature Spitalians and Psychonauts galore, for updates see www.degenesis.de. Comic wise there’s a short story in production for Heavy Metal magazine, written by the talented German scribe Josef Rother, apart from the horror project mentioned above. Last but not least, there’s Germany’s no.1 RPG magazine Mephisto which I support as freelance art-director. Currently we are working on #33 which comes out a bit later than expected because we are changing our printer, however this will give us a few more colored pages, part of which will be filled by a few Confrontation illustrations I did, you can check out an exclusive preview HERE.

VHS-Kurse
Die Anmeldung für den Illustrations-Workshop der VHS Bielefeld läuft bereits. Diesmal ist der Kurs, der am 22. und 23. April stattfindet, auf 25 Teilnehmer beschränkt. Dieser einmal im Jahr stattfindende Power-Kurs zeigt anschaulich welche Faktoren eine mittelmäßige Illustration zu einer Guten machen; am zweiten Tag wenden wir uns auch dem Storytelling zu, eine in Deutschland einmalige Möglichkeit mehr darüber zu erfahren wie „Sequential art“ von der Perspektive des Zeichners aus in der Praxis funktioniert. Dieses Jahr biete ich für jüngere ZeichnerInnen einen Zeichenkurs mit dem Titel „Manga und Co.“ an, diesmal in den Räumen der VHS Minden. Der eintägige Workshop am 09.05.2006 richtet sich an 13- 16 jährige die auch schon mal einen Zeichenstift in der Hand hatten. Es werden Grundkenntnisse im Zeichnen nach ‚Stickfigure’ erklärt und es gibt einen Einblick in alle Entstehungsphasen eines Comics, von der Vorskizze bis zur Kolorierung; www.vhs-minden.de.
